The location is fantastic with a beautiful garden and a magnificent view over the port and the city. It is an oasis of peace in the old town of Funchal. A very beautiful and well-kept hotel.
If one comes with a rental car, there is no possibility to drive up in front of the hotel. That's a bit awkward.

We had a great time. It is a wonderful place, especially a central place where you can let your soul dangle. In a city as Funchal, right in the oldtown, one actually does not expect a hotel of this kind. You stroll through your "own banana plantation", past the lovely pool, towards the conservatory. On the terrace you drink a glass of sparkling wine and enjoy the panoramic view.
The wellness area could be designed a little more lovingly.
